DESIGN FROM LIP

The first Czechoslovak watch was fitted with a movement PRIM caliber 50, the design of which is based on a 11 lines caliber of a French company LIP R25-3 with the height of 4.4 mm. It was equipped with 15 stones Swiss anchor escapement and a small seconds hand. The frequency of a screw balance wheel was 18,000 swings per hour. For the first time, the watches with this movement were introduced on home market in April 1958.

During following years, the caliber PRIM 50 was developed further. The caliber 52 was provided with a date wheel, the caliber 55 fitted with a central seconds hand with a simple indirect drive. A combination of a date wheel and central seconds hand was given to the caliber 57. Watch cases were either nickel or chrom-plated, or gilded (initially with 20 microns, but over the following years, this layer was reduced to 3 microns thanks to the improved technology) .The first Czechoslovak wristwatch had a SPARTAK logo on the dial. It was equipped with a PRIM movement caliber 50. Approximately 6,000 pieces were produced. Starting in 1958 all the watches made in Nove Mesto nad Metují have been marked PRIM.

Together with he movement caliber 50 , a special watch was manufactured for the Czechoslovak Army: the watch with steel case, black dial, illuminated hands and rotating bezel. This model was called Orlik and was produced between 1966 and 1968.

The construction of the new factory, where the company still resides, began in 1970. At that time, it was rather usual to supplement the standard production with that of military equipment.Given the nature of ELTON´s production, the added portfolio included mainly precision components for artillery ammunition igniting systems, components for optical finders in tanks etc. However, the new building and the supplementary technological base related to military production, brought to Elton a significant expansion of opportunities.

The production of the movements PRIM caliber 50 and successive modifications was finished in 1971.
